This morning I salute Shel Holtz and Neville Hobson, two business communicators whose podcast I’ve listened to more than any other over the last five years.
Ever since January 3, 2005 (barely after podcasting had come into existence!), Shel and Neville have been producing For Immediate Release every Monday and Thursday and covering all the important stories and trends at the intersection of public relations, organizational communications, new media, and technology. If that’s anywhere near your sweet spot personally or professionally, then FIR is a podcast you absolutely need to be listening to. (It’s free, and you can subscribe right here.)
Along the way, Shel and Neville have formed a true community of international listeners–from Australia and the UK to Singapore, Ireland, Finland, Germany, and Costa Rica. I’ve been fortunate to tap into that community as a commenter and occasional contributor to the podcast, too, and now count many of those fellow listeners, as well as Shel and Neville, as friends and valued colleagues.
Later today, as they mark five years of podcasting, Shel and Neville will record and publish, incredibly, the 514th episode of FIR. Happy anniversary, guys!
Update: The fifth-anniversary podcast has just been published: FIR 514.

04|Jan|2010 1Huge congrats to both Shel and Neville. I snapped this pic in Palo Alto at one of the first NewComm Forums (www.sncr.org). I believe that’s Elizabeth Albrycht behind our intrepid podcasters.
