About Bryan
Bryan Person
My name is Bryan Person, and I write and speak about how the tools, tactics, and culture of online communications and social media are used to build relationships, forge communities, and drive business.
I am a blogger. BryanPerson.com is a a mix of practical advice for using social media, commentary on the goings-on in other marketing/PR/community blogs and podcasts, and reflections from in-person networking events/conferences that I attend and organize.
I am a podcaster. New Comm Road was a program where I explained how to use the tools of social media and integrate them into your company’s communications strategy. I’ve also done event podcasting, including at the 2008 Community 2.0 Conference in Las Vegas.
I am a community and event organizer. I believe that a big part of the power of social media happens when online conversations turn into face-to-face meetings. To that end, I founded the Social Media Breakfast series in Boston back in August 2007 for the online PR, marketing, and entrepreneurial community. I now the organize monthly breakfasts in Austin, Texas, and work with community leaders in more than 30 cities around the world to launch and build their own SMB events.
I am a presenter. I speakers at conferences, unconferences, and to organizations about the latest trends and best practices in social media.
My employer
By day, I am the social media evangelist at LiveWorld, Inc, a company that builds, operates, and moderates social networks and online communities for brands. The opinions I express here are solely mine, and don’t necessarily reflect the views of LiveWorld and its other employees.
Personally speaking …
I enjoy learning new languages. I speak fluent Spanish and conversational Portuguese, and I know bits and pieces of French, Swahili, and Tetum (the national language of East Timor). I’m a diehard Boston Red Sox fan. I have a wife and two children, and we live Austin.
